    1. I picked this up mostly because of my fondness for lighthouses I really loved the old fashioned illustrations The dog and bear are both so cute.I think young boys who love adventure stories will be the ideal audience for this story The story felt disjointed to me and I enjoyed the pictures much than the story.I can t say I recommend it and definitely not to vegan or vegetarian families I have no problem with the bear eating fish, or even the dog, but for veg n families, especially with preschoo [...]

    2. A bear finds a rowboat near his favorite waterfall and promptly falls asleep in it The rowboat carries him through the sea and to a rocky shore with a lighthouse Then the rowboat drifted away It appeared on the beach near a young boy and his dog When his ball got stuck in the boat, the boy climbed in He and his dog were carried to the same lighthouse There, the boy and the bear met, spent time together, and slept But the little dog was awoken in the night by a storm and they all spotted a very l [...]

    3. When a bear falls asleep in a rowboat and the tide comes in, the boat floats out to sea, landing at a lighthouse.A boy loses his ball in the same rowboat, and floats out to sea with his little dog, landing at the lighthouse where the lonely bear is happy to see them. The three new friends go fishing to catch their diner but then a storm comes and the little dog, boy, and bear are frightened they turn on the lighthouse light and stop a ship from crashing into the lighthouse island.A short adventur [...]

    4. This book reminded me of an older favorite Outside My Window by Skorpen, recent illustrations by Mercer Mayer, a highly recommended, but unavailable title. This book also features a bear and a boy The tone is slightly less somber, but just as enchanting I would have loved this book when I was younger I would have read it over and over again Entranced by the subtle complexities of the plot, the ocean taking us to new places, and the simple friendship.Recommended for young readers looking to build [...]

    5. I love lighthouses and I love the sea, but I didn t love this book I guess I like realistic fiction and a real bear getting into a boat into the sea is a little too far fetched to me If it were a teddy bear, or something like that, I would like it better as it is childlike daydream I do like that the boy and bear use the light house to help the ships in the storm Like I rated it, it was okay

    6. Why is this in a smaller reader size This feels like the first draft of a picture book, since there are too many unanswered questions The attempts at magic realism just feel like author was being lazy The illustrations have a pleasing classic Sendak look a la Little Bear but otherwise, it s a pass.
