    1. Baron Guy Fortescue was born and raised in France after his father escaped punishment by fleeing the country after a deadly duel He stayed in France yet made sure that the estate was managed in his absence When Guy comes back he discovers that the estate that his father had paid to keep up, was indeed not in the shape he desired When he meets Horatia Cavendish it is not a normal meeting Guy, was unconscious and she was pretending to be a groom, a male groom The characters were very well written [...]

    2. This is the first book in Maggi Andersen s The Spies of Mayfair series I have not read any of Ms Andersen s books before but an engaging heroine, a dashing hero, interesting secondary characters and just the right amount of intrigue made this a very enjoyable read GuyFrenchmen always seem to have that Je ne sais quoi that makes them totally irresistable So it s understandable that Guy charmed his way into my heart He s romantic, seductive, passionate, flirtatious, witty, attentive and what woman [...]

    3. A dashing hero, a delightful heroine, spies, mayhem and murder all abound in this thoroughly entertaining book by Maggi Anderson This is the first book of hers that I have read, but it surely won t be the last.I really liked the premise of the book Usually in these books, when you see a Frenchman come to Britain, he is either a scoundrel or some poor aristocrat who has lost all his money and estates In this book, the Frenchman is the hero and is very noble and honorable While we can t say the sa [...]

    4. I absolutely loved the cover of this book But most definitely, don t judge a book by its cover Because this book did pretty much nothing for me It started off promising however, it didn t live up to my expectations First of all, dear writer, get a freaking editor Wrong words being used reeeeeeeeeeeally irritate me I liked Guy well enough as a hero Horatia, she of the horrid name, was a heroine who was too stupid to live Seriously, Guy should have let the bad guys carry her off and be done with h [...]

    5. Horatia is a typical Regency young lady brought up to a genteel but uneventful life in the country where her small rebellion is to go riding alone in men s clothes on her father s horse, The General One day she happens to find a handsome, unconscious man on the roadside and helps him back to the nearest shelter, a hunting lodge in the woods Trapped there for the night, Horatia has to continue her masquerade as a groom Things seem to work well and the next day, she discovers Baron Guy Fortescue i [...]

    6. A Baron in Her BedThe first of The Spies of Mayfair series. The long war with France following the French Revolution is over and Napoleon has been exiled to St Helena after losing the Battle of Waterloo A Baron in Her Bed is set against a background of unrest caused by those who ferment unrest in England They plan to hope Napoleon will escape and rise again to instigate revolution Some of the plotters, English gentlemen, hate the Prince Regent and deplore his reckless extravagance and even threat [...]

    7. Actually 4.5.Guy Truesdale, Baron Fortescue, has come to England to claim his title and estate After Guy s father was forced to flee England because of a duel, he married an aristocratic French woman and the family lived abroad through the French Revolution and Napoleon s reign Now, Guy and his sister are all that is left of his immediate family, and he is determined to take his rightful place as Baron Fortescue Unfortunately, someone seems determined to end Guy s life Luckily, after Guy is inju [...]

    8. A Baron in Her Bed Revolutionary wars have a way of bringing out the best and the worst in people and so it is in this story, the first in the Spies of Mayfair series I love historical settings and protagonists who push the boundaries both Guy and Horatia do so At a time when women rode side saddle, Horatio not only rides astride but dressed in men s clothing And where a woman s lot in life was to wed, she has chosen literary spinsterhood Naturally, Guy will change that, though not before much d [...]

    9. I have to admit what drew me to the book first was the cover It was just sigh I quite liked the book, it had an interesting plot although some of the twists were a teensy bit predictable however other parts I didn t guess at all and came to entirely wrong conclusions about which surprised me.The hero s development was really sweet as he went from a complete flirt to someone who steadfastly loved another I loved his sister who was funny and in some ways quite similar to heroine as they were both [...]

    10. OkayThis was a story that, I felt, started off very well fact, it was funny, suspenseful and interesting It continued along that same line for a time and became less so as the story progressedI mean, being hit on the head extremely hard several times over a period of days would likely kill someone As to characters, they are well described and defined, but I began disliking Horatia by the middle of the story for her impetuous, immature behavior.enough is enough She seems to never learn that she e [...]

    11. I found A Baron In Her Bed an intelligent read, keeping me guessing throughout and making me feel like I was really back in early 19th Century England It was a thrilling tale, with a few twists and turns I didn t quite expect The emotional journey and transformation for both of the main characters was believable and well written As this is apparently the first in a series, I very much look forward to reading the sequels. In compliance with FTC guidelines, I must disclose that I received my copy o [...]

    12. A Baron in her Bed is a delightful story of romance and espionage in Regency England The action romps from country estates to the London salons and ballrooms of the aristocracy and brings that dazzling world alive At times I was reminded of Georgette Heyer I found the character of Guy really attractive and Horatia is a spirited heroine, with fewer inhibitions than most of Miss Heyer s gals Thoroughly recommended, in fact, I m thinking of buying a copy for my mother s birthday.

    13. This is a dramatic, suspenseful, captivating and engrossing romantic story The characters are intriguing and amusing The storyline is interesting, there s so much going on, involving many different people It also has a few surprises thrown in It s a book you won t want to put down once you start reading it I received a complimentary copy of this book from ebookdiscovery This is my honest opinion of it.

    14. I really enjoyed this one I loved the setting and the characters that helped to make Guy and Horatia s journey to a HEA a very sensual and exciting one.

    15. You know you are going to love Horatia, when the first thing she does is dress up like a man and go riding behind her father s back I had a hard time getting to like Guy pronounced Gee in French , as he came off mysterious and not knowing if he is hero material Horatia finds Guy and helps him, and tries to keep it from her father Guy s past is catching up to him and losing his credentials is playing havoc with claiming his inheritance Of course, Horatia keeps Guy interested and they fall in love [...]

    16. Set in regency England, A Dangerous Deception is a mostly enjoyable read with a hint of danger and derring do thrown in for good measure Horatia, our heroine, has been quietly dying of boredom while living with her father in the country Slipping into boy s clothing and riding her father s stallion astride whenever she can get away, she comes across Guy, her handsome new neighbour, lying injured on the ground Of course she rescues him, and of course the weather is so appalling they are forced to [...]

    17. In the aftermath of Napolean s capture, England was still reeling from the the effects of the long drawn out war, when Baron Guy Fortescue arrives back in England to reclaim his family seat It would appear that there are forces working against him and someone does not want him to live long enough to achieve his goals Fortunately Guy is rescued by Horatia Cavendish, a young lady who despises being fenced in by the strictures of society The meeting between Guy and Horatia is amusing and very uncom [...]

    18. Rating 3.5 Horatia is a strong minded young woman who doesn t want to marry and give up her independence Part of her free spirited way of living is to dress up as a groomsman so she can ride her father s horse, The General, like a man She would like to be a poet, inherit and live like a spinster, as her aunt does Until she encounters an injured man in the woods, an attractive man with a French accent, and is stuck in a sudden snowstorm The man, an aristocrat, is Guy and he is new to the area Guy [...]

    19. A Dangerous Deception started out well, a strong willed female dressed as a man, made to rescue an injured Baron Horatia had no intention to marry wanted to be her own woman and that lasts for about half the book Willing to change for her husband and easily persuaded to marry, I found Horatia to be a little bit of a disappointment for I felt she should of been made of sterner stuff Despite my own disappointment in fair Horatia, I found the story to be pleasant without a lot of strong ups or down [...]

    20. I received a copy under the new title of A dangerous deception from ebook discovery in exchange for an honest review. This is a great read with a feisty heroine who saves our hero With wonderful well rounded character development you will be transported to the years just after the Napolionic wars where women were supposed to be meek and mild Horatia is a gloriously wild and determined not to bow down to the conventions of the day.

    21. A good storyDidn t realise I had read this book before until I started itIt must have been in a bundle.Quite enjoyable good authorI didnt mind reading it againyone who likes a romance with some subterfuge in it will like this book.

    23. Passionate mysteryThis was a very good story It gripped my attention from the beginning I enjoyed the heroine because she was strong and feisty plus being willing to be unconventional for her time.I did however think the book ended way to abruptly, because it doesn t say that it has a sequel It seems to end almost in mid sentence That left me feeling unsatisfied I wonder if this is the author s first book and she didn t know how to write a conclusion This story did have adult content, although i [...]

    24. Horatia Cavendish has vowed never to marry She wants to pursue a literary career like her aunt, that is, until she meets sexy Frenchman Guy Fortescue Except she doesn t exactly meet him under ideal circumstances She dresses like a boy and goes out riding her father s spirited stallion something that a proper young lady should not be doing , when she discovers Guy unconscious in the road after being attacked by ruffians She can t abandon him so she does the next best thing and helps him to an aba [...]

    26. I should probably admit that I don t read romance novels as a rule, so my opinion may or may not be a bit biased Still, this was well written, and those who love romance novels will probably enjoy this book.Personally, though, I found it.ric The heroine was Perfectly Plucky, the hero was Perfectly French And Titled , and there were spies and murders other minor things going on to keep throwing the two of them together until Happily Ever After had been safely achieved Pleasant but forgettable.

    27. I won this book in the giveaway competition on I like historical romance fiction and was thrilled to win this book.I did enjoy it I found it easy to read and I did want to know what was going to happen next It was well written and had a good story line and strong characters.
