    1. I m a novice gardener with a lot of experience at being a novice As such I ve never heard a lot of these myths, adding to my vast store of things I don t know about the garden Needless to say I was very happy when I first opened this book at random to find out that in my ignorance I d been doing something right all along, nipping from the hip so to speak Now having read a number of the other myths I know that this book will be invaluable, but I m a little concerned that I might have to tell some [...]

    2. I was totally charmed by this little book and not just because I know and like the author Some of the garden myths she cracks open are ones I ve fallen prey to like putting rocks in the bottom of planters or using Epsom salts as fertilizer Others like planting marigolds to ward off insects or watering tomatoes with sugar water I d never heard of, but that s probably a good thing since it means I was never fooled by them But what makes this book so lovely in addition to good, sound garden advice, [...]

    3. A brief description of many myths that people believe about gardening but which are not true Written concisely and well with diagrams and pictures. Many things we do for gardens are not scientifically valid and are actually harmful The author not only tells us which habits are myths, but she explains the science behind the incorrect procedure and tells us what to do instead. Not wordy or overly technical but a simple well organized manual.Almost everyone has done some of the practices in this book [...]

    4. You know on squash and melon seed packets it says, plant in hills , so everybody makes a mound of dirt and plants the melon seeds on top Turns out hills in this case means groups Just one of many enlightening explanations in this enjoyable book Covers vegetable and flower gardening, highly recommend for any gardener.

    5. Concise, full of good advice and handles many myths about gardening in a clear, everyman s language I enjoy these types of gardening books that aren t too technical but give good, solid advice in a clear manner.

    6. I found Coffee for Roses a delightful and educational read I like that I can refer to it over and over when I have questions about fact or fiction of gardening tips I highly recommend it for the advanced and beginning gardeners that are currently venturing out into pleasure of gardening.

    7. I rarely read gardening books, but this was very good Each short chapter debunks a common practice that is akin to urban legend I.e putting coffee on roses, double digging, pine needle mulch will acidify soil, etc Most of the ideas make things easier, I found.

    8. Do you put coffee grinds on your roses Or plant red flowers to attract hummingbirds This book is written by the Garden Lady and she dispels many myths about home gardening Easy to read and great suggestions for plants.

    9. Fun book to read,, especially if you enjoy gardening You might likely find many a thing you do that is myth than fact and save some time by eliminating the practice.

    10. 5 stars for research, but as I ve not even heard of most of these old farmers tales, I can t say it s earned a place on the garden shelf Feed the soil not the plant has been the most successful piece of growing advice, and doesn t take too many words.er of fact, I should be working the earth, not sitting on my butt

    11. an interesting take on gardening should be taken with a healthy dose of salt not enough references cited and no clear science.

    12. Common sense guidance on gardening Some main language definitions like annual, perennial, etc and helpful information about how and when to repot or split plants.
