      Hazell was born in raised in Texas She grew up with a mother who adored books and passed that love to her children Before she could read large books herself, Hazell s mother made a nightly tradition of delving into fantasy novels like Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe and a wrinkle in time This only sparked the young aspiring author s creative need to build a world all her own Her love of horses also started young Hazell was riding in diapers and while other young girls played with Barbies, Hazell only had eyes for Blinking Beauty and her Breyers Raised in the city, she took lessons early and finally was given her first horse at 12 Its been a life long habit since then Her rendition of the Wings, their thoughts, and their personalities, come from the horses that she has known Hazell started her professional life as a horse trainer, halter breaking colts and starting young horses Though her professional career, other than writing, is outside of horse training these days, she still lives and breathes horses in her small Texas ranch Quarter horses, with a myriad of others tossed in, make up a large portion of the denisons of MoonWillow Ranch including Willow herself
