    3. Meet Your Baker is a mild and cozy mystery read I m a big fan of mystery books and for someone who read A LOT of books in this genre, I can really say that the mystery was neatly done The tension, the build up, the way the secrets were revealed and the setting really appealed to me.Juliet or Jules is a wonderful main character I like how she thinks and even though we are not in the same age group, I surprisingly identified with her She s an incredible daughter, she made me laugh and she knows ho [...]

    4. Meet Your Baker is not just about baking Someone is dead inside the bake shop and Jules, the pastry chef, feels it s up to her to make sure that the reputation of her family business is not tarnished. The dead woman is Nancy Hudson She wasn t a nice person in my opinion and as Jules investigates, she finds a fairly long list of suspects.I was actually surprised when I learned of the identity of the murderer in the end I honestly thought there was at least one accomplice in this, but oops, I was w [...]

    8. They say it takes a while to recover your land legs after years at sea I sure hoped mine would come back soon Shakespeare, pastries and murder make the perfect combination for a new cozy series I loved this book from page one Ellie Alexander does an excellent job of engaging us in the mystery while weaving in clues, red herrings and twists along the way We are introduced to the main protagonist, Juliet Montague Capshaw She returns to Ashland, Oregon, her home town and home of the Oregon Shakespe [...]

    9. A very good start to a new series that has lots of great potential Jules Capshaw has come home to Ashland, Oregon, to recover from her husband s betrayal I enjoyed the setting and building the story around the doings of a Shakespearean festival was great The characters are all well drawn, from Juliet her mother, to the town police chief, his deputy who was an old flame of Jules , and onto the director and actors in the Shakespeare troupe I was pretty sure whodunit , but was thrown off a couple o [...]

    10. This was a light and fun little cozy mystery featuring a young woman returning from a stint as a chef on a cruise ship to her home town of Ashland, Oregon, to nurse a broken relationship This was full of the flavor of the town with a few behind the scenes tidbits of the Shakespearean play culture Anyone who enjoys a nice niche mystery with lots of good cooking thrown in will find this a nice way to while away an afternoon.

    11. In an excellent new mystery series, this plot features Juliet Capshaw, an experienced pastry chef, as she comes home to her mother s bakery to recover from a betrayal that occurred during her job working on a cruise ship The story has a good cast of characters and a very good plot It is a welcome entry into the cozy mystery world.

    12. I love cozy mysteries and this was another hit for me I love that this is set in a bakery and in a small little village I loved the characters and I m excited to see where this series is headed

    14. Somehow I knew just by looking at the cover of this book that this would be a new favorite series of mine, why you ask Well, it was the scrumptious treats on the cover and the bakery setting being a fan of baking and what life is like inside a bakery and the idea of a cozy mystery in a bakery had me hooked I m the type that judges a book by its cover and I knew that I would look forward that what lied ahead of me inside the pages and I was happy that I was proven right. The first book in the A Ba [...]

    15. 16. A cute mother daughter cozy mystery Juliet, also known as Jules, has left her husband and job on a cruise ship to help her mother run the family bakery Jules is surprised with how much has changed in their small town, especially the addition of loud mouth Nancy When Nancy is found dead in the bakery, Jules helps her ex, the investigator on the case, to uncover the killer One of my favourite things about this mystery was how much was focused on family Jules and her mom had a great relationship wh [...]

    17. I thought this was a great mystery novel Perhaps I m a little biased because I truly enjoyed meeting the author and thought she was really wonderful to talk to, but I thought this was a solid book It s a great idea, it s a well done mystery, and I love anything that has to do with food The recipes that are made in the book are for things I d actually want to make, and are all included at that end I like that she s a local author writing about a place in my own state I hope to go down and visit s [...]

    18. 3.5 stars and a good solid start to what could be a good series The author twists the cliches a bit, adding interest where there s often repetitiveness I m not a fan of foreshadowing and the MC accusing multiple people of being a murderer rather put me off, but the author writes really good characters that feel three dimensional I m interested in seeing what happens next.Full review jennoklikes post 109160

    19. Really 4.5 stars, but I rounded up I really enjoyed this book The main character could be slightly over the top at times, but overall it was an amazing first book in this series I ll read the next one and will definitely be reading the first book in this author s other series, under a different name, that I ve had for a year soon

    20. I really enjoyed this cozy mystery I will be continuing with the series some point need to finish some others first

    21. First in the Bakeshop Mystery series.A somewhat formulaic start Juliet Jules to friends has come home to her small town in Oregon after a separation with her husband Jules and Carlos are chefs on a cruise ship, and after some event, Jules comes back to work with her mother at Torte, the family bakeshop. As the story unfolds, we aren t sure what the event was that precipitated Jules return to Oregon In fact, slowly through the book do we discover what the situation is The town in Oregon is a big S [...]

    22. Okay, I ll start off with the positives This book had everything you could want in a cozy mystery Cute little town, lots of intrigue, with a dash of suspense I love the recipes in the back because when Jules was baking, I always wondered what it would taste or look like, now I have the recipes to find out I didn t guess who dun it until the big reveal and that in and of itself is surprising What I didn t like is how very much this main character annoyed me Her little nuances and the way she inte [...]

    23. The first cozy mystery I ve read I enjoyed this book a lot than I thought I would Loved the setting and Shakespearean elements thrown into the story I can honestly say I was shocked by the ending and was entertained throughout Not a book I normally would have picked up but I m glad I did Some of the romantic and relationship elements were cheesy at times but I still found myself enjoying the book overall Definitely a cozy and fun read

    24. Loved it I m glad I finally got to read the first book in the series, although I knew who the killer was going to be their character is not in the later books, so therefor is in prison the plot twists to get to the climax were very interesting and unexpected

    25. Actually, I would give the book two and a half stars Apart from the cozy small town atmosphere and the friendly bakeshop set, which created a nice background for the story, everything else was simply a repetition of all the usual features cozy mysteries tend to include a heartbroken protagonist, an old flame, a family run business However, the idea of a festival inspired by Shakespeare s works appealed to me and it was an interesting addition to the mystery, even though the mystery itself was of [...]

    26. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review Why I read this This was on my TBR list before the blog tour popped up, so I was pretty excited to be able to read it before I thought I would I love cozy mysteries, they are my guilty pleasure I also love novels that include food porn and recipes so this sounded right up my alley Plot Jules has returned home after spending a chunk of her life in the kitchen of a [...]

    28. Returning home as an adult is never easy Juliet, or Jules as she prefers, has come home after being away for many years She s a pastry chef on a cruise ship, her marriage is in trouble, and she s come to lick her wounds and make some decisions Her mother owns and runs a pastry shop, the same one that Jules grew up and where she learned her craft initially But returning home isn t the joyful reunion you might expect She s not yet ready to discuss her marital problems with her mother and it turns [...]

    29. Meet Your Baker was an OK read, which seemed to be a bit detail packed and the mystery complicated than the average cozy.Pastry chef Jules aka Juliet comes home when she s having problems with her husband She comes back to the family bakery and starts working with her mother A woman hated by many is killed and a bakery employee is implicated so Jules starts investigating.I didn t love the story probably because there was so much going on There s Jules troubles with her husband, we assume what [...]
