    1. I had the pleasure of hearing this book read aloud by my friend, Colby, while visiting his 3rd grade class The kids loved the book and we had a great discussion about its message.

    2. Adored TOMMY CAN T STOP I loved the joyous energy in the illustrations and the great wordplay and humor in the text makes this story a wonderful read a loud Highly recommended.

    3. There are tons of Tommys in this world This story celebrates their need to find the right place to exercise their energy and turn it into talent I love that Tommy s family didn t just stick an ADHD label on him and consider putting him on medicine They tried everything they could think of to help Tommy find an outlet for his energy A great model for every educator to follow, as well.

    4. Young Tommy is in perpetual motion, bouncing like a pogo stick, hollering while he hurdles and clomping like an elephant He s driving his family crazy He s an animal, his sister pouts to their parents but you can tell from the illustrations that this is a little guy who s just got to move When his mom drags him to tap class, he s really not sure it s for him But when the teacher begins bouncing, he s hooked I love the way this book shows Tommy discovering a joyful, positive way to channel his en [...]

    5. A very cute book about a rambunctious little boy who has too much energy Having tried everything to tire him out so he ll stop moving, Tommy s family enrolls him in tap class Initially apprehensive, he finds that they do all of the things he loves to do Finally, they ve found a perfect outlet for him

    6. I don t know Not a fan of the artwork which doesn t help but this story didn t seem to have a lot of substance or resolution either The writing is cute but it s also a long enough picture book that the kids who would sit through it might not want cute I definitely got the feeling I wasn t the target audience here but I m also not sure who is or what the applications for this one might be.

    7. I love Tommy s irrepressible energy I know a lot of kids that are this rambunctious and it was fun to see how Tommy was ultimately able to channel his natural momentum into dancing Author Tim Federle can do no wrong

    8. I thought this one was awesome everyone knows a kid like Tommy Love that the author acknowledges that a little boy s initial reaction to dance lessons might be that they are too girly but Tommy dances his way to stardom So cute and fun.

    9. I like the gender diversity of having a male character dancing and that was enough for me to read it several times to Miss 2 but I found it boring to read and the writing didn t appeal.

    10. Tommy can t stop moving so he goes to a tap class and LOVES it A good book for boys that think dance classes are only for girls

    11. Tommy Can t Stop by Tim Federle, caught my attention instantly when I saw it on the bookshelf I had never heard of this book before so I was hesitant when I opened the first page Despite my suspicions, Tommy Can t Stop was entertaining, comical, relatable, very easy to read, and the illustrations were immaculate.Tommy is a young boy who just can t keep still He is a pogo stick, a bulldozer, an elephant, and an antelope He bounces, kicks, clomps, and hurdles Finally, his family can t stand it and [...]

    12. Parents of boys will quickly empathize with those of the hyperactive protagonist in Tim Federle s Tommy Can t Stop Tommy really can t stop moving He alliteratively boasts when he bounces and hollers when he hurdles Ironically, it s Tommy s family that s exhausted trying to tire him Finally, his sister suggests he try a dance class The reluctant Tommy quickly realizes that his energy and athleticism make him a star dancer.Unlike most picture books, it is primarily the supporting cast who struggle [...]

    13. One reviewer calls this an exuberant picture book, and the adjective is spot on Tommy can t keep still and his family is in despair over how to tire him out until he discovers tap dancing, which he instantly loves and for which he has lots of talent A story about finding your passion and talent.

    14. This is a very fun book about a young person who has endless amounts of energy I love that his family tries lots of things I think many students can relate to not being able to sit still Even if they don t have that experience themselves, they are sure to know someone else with that issue It s very easy to relate to Tommy I also enjoy that Tommy is dancing because I don t see nearly enough books that have boys dancing I may be alone in this, but I found the parenthesis a bit distracting They are [...]

    15. This was such a funny book to read It s great to read a book that teachers you to find other ways to calm your children down The book remind me of my nephew He can t stay still just like Tommy After reading this book it gave me some ides how to keep my nephew happy with bouncing around and keep the house clean I really like how the author found a way for Tommy to still bounce around to where he is still happy and make his family happy and out the house The artwork really showed the motions that [...]

    16. I really enjoyed this book about Tommy who s so full of energy he can t stand still His family is exhausted from trying to keep him under control and have tried everything they can think of to tire him out but nothing has worked until they take him to tap dance class with his sister Although Tommy is reluctant and WON T wear a tutu he quickly realizes that the dance teacher is a kindred soul and with different ways of expressing the same moves Tommy has at home, he finds a kindred spirit who sho [...]

    17. Adorable Timmy is the little boy that no one can stand because he can t stop hopping and bouncing and jumping and causing all sorts of trouble His family tries to wear him out by giving him chores and making him exercise a lot, but nothing seems to work Finally his sister suggests that he take tap dance at her dance school, and, even though Timmy thinks it sounds dorky, he discovers that he loves it And it s perfect Finally he has an outlet for all his energy Large font on colorful illustrations [...]

    18. Tommy can t stop moving He bounces, he kicks, he clomps, and he hurdles His parents try everything to get him to stop, but nothing works Then his sister decides that he needs tap class And guess what, he loves it His teacher bounces, kicks, stomps and leaps Suddenly Tommy s a star For all those kids out there who just can t seem to sit still, this book is for you What a great way to channel all that energy into something fun For Tommy it s tap dance, but for other kids it could be sports, or A j [...]

    19. Tommy reminds me of myself as a child The irresistible urge to move and make noise compel him to continually pop, hurdle, and bounce His family take turns firing Tommy out No one succeeds They try softball and swim club but Tommy doesn t tire even then Eventually his mother drags him to tap class All of his popping, hurdling, and bouncing have prepared him perfectly for tap class Tommy turns out to be a tap star His family proudly support him from the first row.

    20. Such a fun read and an endearing story The message of turning a negative into a positive use for the energy of a rambunctious child was so sweet, and a way to remind readers to avoid having to look at a child with just one lens, and having the boy end up dancing, is a powerful message I especially loved the use of alliteration in each segment that highlights the use of words and adds to the fun This is a story full of joy that made me feel that as a reader.

    21. While the author doesn t say that the book is autobiographical, it might have a little of Tim Federle in the story Tommy has nonstop energy and a desire to play physical games that simply exhausts his family As young Tommy sees how his games translate into the world of dance, it becomes very believable that he would fall in love with this new way of dealing with the world Very nice story, well told and well illustrated.

    22. Tommy is a high energy character who just can t stopy moving He is all over the place However, there is a possible solution to all of this The preschool audience can relate to Tommy during story hour which brought about good discussion Lively illustrations with realistic facial expressions.

    23. I LOVED Tim Federle s middle school books BETTER NATE THAN NEVER, and FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, NATE, so am thrilled to have a picture book of his to add to the collection. What a sweet, fun book makes you want to dance I support independent bookstores You can use this link to find one near you indiebound

    24. Tommy needs to get his bounce on He can t stop driving his family INSANE with the amount of energy he has, they re dead tired and have run out of ways to tire out Tommy That is until his sister suggests Tommy take tap dancing At first Tommy is against tap dance until he notices his teacher has got the same groovy moves he uses at home Maybe tapping isn t such a bad thing

    25. Tommy is one of those wild kids His family comes up with all kinds of plans to try and help him find control It isn t until he discovers tap dancing that his energy finds a focus In fact, it turns out that Tommy has talent I suspect that this book resonated for me since I was a kid like Tommy anyone who really know me will tell you I m still kind of hyperactive.

    26. I wonder how much of this is autobiographical This is a perfect book for examples of dialogue and using a variety of language instead of saying He said bellows, clamors, boasts, moans, pleads etc It also serves to encourage us to explore our strengths even when they seem like a problem Colorful illustrations show exaggerated eyes on energetic characters.

    27. Sweet little picture book about one boy who learns to harness all his raw energy and need for attention into tap dancing Tommy channels his flair for the dramatic and tireless bouncing for art It s cute and fun, and I love that it says even boys who are not fans of pink and refuse to go near tutus can be dancers.
