    About "Michelle Paver"

    1. Michelle Paver

Michelle Paver was born in Central Africa, but came to England as a child After gaining a degree in Biochemistry from Oxford University, she became a partner in a City law firm, but eventually gave that up to write full time. The hugely successful Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series arose from Michelle s lifelong passion for animals, anthropology and the distant past as as well as an encounter with a large bear in a remote valley in southern California To research the books, Michelle has traveled to Finland, Greenland, Sweden, Norway, Arctic Canada and the Carpathian Mountains She has slept on reindeer skins, swum with wild orca killer whales , and got nose to nose with polar bears and, of course, wolves.

    3. As I said before what a lot I or anyone could learn about storytelling from Michelle Paver The Burning Shadow is remarkable Though the second in a series, it very nearly stands alone though it involves multiple viewpoints, the reader is never lost or confused even for a split second And what a story As in the previous book, The Outcasts , the action starts with a bang, as young Hylas the goatherd, still searching for his missing sister, is captured by slavers and forced to work in his enemies co [...]

    4. Few authors can deliver such a grand, thrilling, emotional children adventure.Michelle Paver is definitely one of the best.

    5. Good story and intresting personas, I like this series better and better, first betrayal as a theme and now slavery in a bronze mine, kids where used in real world bronze mines too as finds of a childshoe deep down into a pit have been known The dark themes works well with the caracters and theme.

    6. This series started off with The Outsiders, an AMAZING book and the second one left me shook A must read for everyone who enjoys a thrilling adventure torn between worlds and friendship.

    7. The Burning Shadow is the second book in Michelle Paver s Gods and Warriors series When I read the opening instalment last year I was extremely impressed so I was excited to pick up the threads of the main character Hylas s story and see what lay in store for him next. The plot again follows Hylas the Outsider and Pirra, who is on the run from her life as daughter of the High Priestess The two have been separated but they are never far from each other s thoughts and their paths seem destined to c [...]

    8. BOOK REVIEW The author keeps you starving for action with impossible plot twists and turns If you loved Rick Rioderns Percy Jackson series, then you ll crave GODS AND WARRIORS _Stanly Benson. The story takes place over three thousand years ago, before even the Greek gods were fully formed It s set in the Bronze Age a time when people still ate raw meat and fish occasionally cooking it if they had time, when Kronos and his brothers were still very much alive What held my attention most was the fa [...]

    9. Hylas and Pirra have to escape new danger on a new island and this time they meet a lion cub This book was on the same level as the first one, though I think I liked The Outsiders a bit simply because it was quite a lot about the ocean which is like my favorite thing in the world , it had a dolphin in it, and I love being introduced to main characters and new world building On the other hand, this was really good because the story took off for real in this one and it was of a cliffhanger by th [...]

    11. I thought that this book was interesting I will admit that I did not research the book before picking it, so was unaware that it was part of a series until it arrived.I love the tone throughout the book The story flowed and the pace was not really slow It wasn t one of those books that was unnecessarily long I found that after the first few chapters, I kind of got a feel of what was going on It is one of those novels that you don t need to read the entire series to understand I think that is wha [...]

    12. This was another brilliant example of why Michelle Paver is one of my favourite authors She always writes such compelling, remarkable stories of mythical creatures and worlds and fascinating characters.Hylas and Pirra were once propelled into an exciting, thrilling, dangerous adventure that continued on from the first book in the series Hylas had to use his wits and courage to survive enslavement in the mines and to continue on with his search for his little sister, Issi Pirra was a strong, stu [...]

    13. Having loved Gods and Warriors, I could not wait to get my hands on The Burning Shadow Only, I forgot it came out until I came across it at the library in the new section and snatched it into my hands Our three main characters have separated, but end up convening again in an unlikely twist of fate on an island where the Crows rule Hylas is the first to arrive, becoming enslaved and forced to work in mines where shadows seems to lurk and he finds a companion in a lion cub whose family was killed [...]

    14. A brilliant sequel to The Outsiders.Written by the same author who wrote Wolf Brother, it was no surprise that I ended up buying and enjoying this book immensely This book continues with the adventures of the two main characters, an orphaned outsider named Hylas and a rebellious daughter of the High Priestess called Pirra The book is written in the first person and alternates between what is happening in Hylas and Pirra s lives One thing I particularly enjoy about Michelle Paver s books is the i [...]

    15. Once again, readers will be sucked into this outstanding survival adventure series with Hylas, whose life is still ruled by one goal to find his missing little sister Unfortunately, he is picked up by slavers and taken to the island of Thalakrea to work in the greenstone mines Unbelievable conditions await the poor slaves Hylas must use all his wits and courage to survive and eventually escape But danger lies in another quarter, from the Crows On the run, he is adopted by a lion cub, and Paver d [...]

    16. I love the imagery in this book, it s pace and emotional interactions especially between the main characters The balance between the male and female characters is perfect so this book could be read by either sex without feeling like it was gender specific true the story seems about Hylas but Pirra is also an equal partner in the narrative The setting is believable and the dark themes are captured with great menace As always Paver brings a voice to the animal character that holds the reader and [...]

    18. If you become attached to things, you get hurt I JUST LOVE MICHELLE PAVER S STORIES I missed Spirit in this onebut oh how I enjoyed the relationship between Havoc and Hylas And of course Pirra Paver creates an amazing group of characters and takes them on heart pounding adventures in this incredible series Im moving straight into the third book The Burning Falcon and I can t wait Its an absolute treat to be able to read books in a series back to back and it s especially exciting to be reading Pa [...]

    21. I thought this was faintly weaker than the first book until the conclusion which storm tossed me in a small boat on a wide sea Figuratively speaking, mostly So near, so near The hero and heroine are truly star crossed Will they ever become lovers
