    About "Susan Day"

    1. Susan Day

Susan Day is passionate about children s literature and wants to inspire children to follow their dreams She created the Astro s Adventures series and is currently illustrating other titles for children.Susan travelled around the world twice before she was seven years old It was the sixties and the cheapest way to circumnavigate the globe was by cruise ship It seemed only fitting that the wonderful events she experienced and the places she visited on these journeys be recorded for history Thus, her story telling skills began Firstly, to Rupert Bear, her lifelong companion, and then to a host of imaginary friends and finally to her pet dog once the family finally set down roots in Australia Each book Susan creates encourages and promotes the wonderful art of story telling with organic illustrations that reach to the very essence of the reader portraying similar character traits that their pets share.Susan shares her home with the dogs, in particular, Rocky, Stella, Alfie and Digger, three rescue guinea pigs, two bossy cats and a very patient husband.

    1. Astro s Adventures The Haunted Circus by Susan Day is an adorable children s story with great lessons to teach but done so in a fun and entertaining way The author knows how to relate to kids and her tales are unique and inspiring. This is an enlightening story that should be empowering for young people I loved it myself and there are moments I couldn t stop laughing out loud This book teaches us the value of doing for others, whether it s for people or animals The goodness of giving is the main [...]

    2. Another hilarious episode in the lives of Astro, Indy and the gang I adore this series, and The Haunted Circus keeps up the pace with the hero dogs kidnapped by evil clowns The writing is smooth and the pace fast, and there is not a dull moment in this lovely book I particularly like the division of the book into very short chapters, which makes it convenient for reading aloud to younger children, but really these books are wonderful at any age.

    3. Lovely book, well written and I feel this will appeal to readers around the age range 8 to 12 years, and would also make a god read to bedtime book as well for younger children The hero s of the book are the Organisation looking out for neglected doggies, however here they are faced with a problem, should they be looking after other animals as well and not just dogs The book has plenty of action to keep the younger reader turning the pages to find out if they will outwit the evil Speed Bump Char [...]

    4. After returning from saving the earth with a new moon, Astro and his trusted friends of The Organization found themselves landing on a big top circus It was not just any circus, but a haunted circus, ran by evil ghost clowns The clowns kidnap the crew and have plans to do evil circus acts with them Or were the dogs just food for the circus Lion, who now watched guard over Astro and his friends The dogs find a way to befriend the Lion and promise to save him, if he just helps the dogs But the cap [...]

    5. What an adventure Humorous, yet the story has a great message to teach children There was lots of action and suspense, too I loved the concept of giving and caring for others animals and people alike The pacing and writing were good I was a little worried when the story started off with a group of dogs who could communicate with humans the clowns And that isn t it These dogs were a crack team of professional spies and the best rescuers in the world I believe it can be very difficult to create li [...]

    6. An Adventure to Chill and Thrill the ReadersThis is the first story I ve read from the Astro s Adventure Series by Susan Day What an adventure it was The circus is in town, but don t get too excited Evil clowns run it If you think that s bad, it only gets worse These clowns have a big secret, a scary secret a chilling secret To top it off, they think nothing of hurting the animals they have in their show Luckily, the gang comes to the rescue Only their plan backfires when they re dog napped, but [...]

    7. I wrote this book to highlight the poor treatment of animals at some circuses Having said that, it is very light hearted and I m sure your middle grade reader will love it Astro and the gang are dog napped by some wicked clowns who habour a terrible secret They are forced to do unimaginable tricks for the enjoyment of the audience However, our resilent and strong pooches rally together and defeat the wicked clowns and those pesky cats, Speed Bump Charlie and Furball.
