    3. I died once We all did, all three of us The only difference is I came back.I didn t get a choice.Beautifully written The portrayal of grief and trauma was done really well That said, the romance didn t really work for me, for the most part Specifically because of the speed it developed at The grief was so overwhelming that it called for a much slower pace Still, an author I ll definitely go back to.

    4. Not all those who wander are lost J.R.R Tolkien First of all, I love this stunning book cover Just beautiful but, I love the color purple so I guess I may be a little biased And, the blurb does a pretty good job of laying out what you will be getting in this story In fact, I knew when I read the opening line of this newest release by Amanda Dick that I was in for another amazing journey Each time I open a book by this author I know that I am in for something new and original and I also know that [...]

    5. I really loved reading this latest book of Amanda s A story of love and loss, Amanda draws on real life incidents that shape Sian and Luke and temporarily stops their lives Being a New Zealander, like Amanda, the locations are familiar and this enables me to create the images that Amanda creates Amanda is one of the few authors that can create these images for me and I really believe that it is one of her strengths This is Amanda s fifth book and I am looking forward to reading of her creations [...]

    8. 5 STARS There are many good books out there, but not many great books In the Shadow of Satellites is a great book One that will stay with me Amanda wrote this story so beautifully Sian Bennett is a New Zealander who lost her husband and son in the 2011 earthquake in Christchurch, and Luke Lancaster is an American who moved to NZ and has demons of his own This is a story about two broken souls who had experience lost and then find love in each other It is a story that will grip you from the very [...]

    9. I love that I can start reading an Amanda Dick novel and know that I will feel a connection with her characters. They just seem so real and relevant that it is easy to be immersed in their story straight up.Sian and Luke are broken souls with heartbreaking pasts and it is fate that sees them cross paths.I also loved the feeling of isolation and solitude in the setting of this book which I think made this a haunting but beautiful story.5 stars again Amanda

    10. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.Once again, Amanda Dick s amazing talent shines with her brilliant execution of a moving story about loss, but most of all love and hope None of her stories are ever the same Her stories tend to be in a league of their own, and In The Shadow Of Satellites is no different.Sian is consumed with her loss She isn t living Simply existing Her past follows her everyday She is haunted Luke also has ghosts of the pasts, ones that he s tried to escape by [...]

    13. In the Shadow of Satellites caught me a bit by surprise This is my first Amanda Dick read and let me tell you this is a talented lady This story is very well written and pulls you into the grief Sian lives My heart felt heavy with her burden Sian s residual physical effects from the tragedy rang true for me I experienced her frustration, confusion and the grief Lord the crippling grief.Luke, with burdens of his own, is such a great guy Yes, he is handsome, but I don t really think that matters H [...]

    17. Sian and Luke are two characters that had gone through so much I thought their characters were perfect for eachother even though I found the book tough to read at times due to the amount of dialogue in it.

    18. 5 Heartbreaking Emotional StarsI absolutely loved this book It was so well written with so many emotional feels At times the sadness was so overwhelming you felt like you were drowning in it What a surprisingly beautiful read.

    19. This was a really nice story I chose this book because I lived through all the Christchurch earthquakes and this is the first novel I have seen that has that as a backdrop In fact the earthquakes are just a backdrop, barely mentioned This was a recovery from a loss, and head injury tale, and in the end a love story, and I really liked it Great characters, great setting, easy to read and a nice story What can you ask for

    20. Where do I even begin to tell about how much I loved In the Shadow of Satellites by Amanda Dick This novel reminded me so much of my own life that it s rather scary, considering I haven t been through half the stuff that Sian has been through I ve experienced loss, but not in the way she has, but I feel her pain I know exactly the motions she s going through and that made me love this novel so much because, it was real for me In the Shadow of Satellites starts you off with Sian waiting for her [...]

    21. Title In the Shadow of SatellitesAuthor Amanda DickGenre Contemporary RomanceSeries or Standalone StandaloneRating Happily Ever After view spoiler Yes hide spoiler ReviewSome of the most beautiful blessings come when you least expect them And that statement has never been truer than it is with Sian and Luke Neither of them were prepared for the impact, the real beauty they would bring to each other s world Especially considering how neither of them were even looking when it took hold of them and [...]

    23. I loved this hauntingly beautiful bittersweet tale The only criticism I have with this book is that I found it a little slower paced than I was expecting Mostly near the beginning As I got further in however, I began to appreciate the unhurried pace The process of grief and emotion can take years, and Ms Dick s gentle pace at the start gave an added element of realism to it all Her approach to the Christchurch quake, a real event, was factual and sensitive The entire book was beautifully written [...]

    24. 5 Shooting StarsIn the Shadow of Satellites by Amanda Dick is an emotional heartbreaking story Get your tissues handy Sian is hiding away at her families remote lake cottage She is surviving amongst the ghosts of her husband and young son that she tragically lost She has little contact with the outside world and lives her life in the past cherishing the memories she has of her former life, the life she lead with husband and son at her side Luke Lancaster, also struggles with loss and moves to th [...]

Amanda Dick has done it again An absolutely beautiful, yet heartbreaking story of human spirit Amanda has this incredible ability to express the huge range of human emotions so vividly it feels real.tangible Like it s happening to you Sian and Luke have lost so much and have experienced tragedy in their young lives than most people experience in a lifetime From the first page, I was drawn into the tale of loss and heartbreak I don t know how people cope with such grief and the strength it takes [...]

    27. Amanda is a wonderful writer, and with every new novel she demonstrates again how good she is at describing people s full range of emotions She s definitely at her best when it comes to introducing her readers to protagonists in difficult life situations and taking them along on these protagonists difficult road back to normal life after defining how they want this new normal to look like In this novel, her topic is grief and with her two protagonists, she tackles it from different angles, which [...]

    28. Every one of Amanda s novels become my favorite Guess what This is favorite number 5 In the shadow of satellites is a beautiful story told from Sian Bennett s p.o.v Amanda has done it again, combined every emotion known to man and thrown Sian into the centre of it This is possibly the most beautiful story Amanda has wrote to date It really has a feel good factor and an almost hypnotic stance, for want of a better word I don t want to give away any spoilers What I will say is, if you re new to Am [...]
