    1. As sequel to the author s first novel, Takeover, this setting finds the protaganist still in the midst of her grief I just thought the author stretched credibility with some of her plot lines I hate it when a forensic investigator is made out to be a detective and super sleuth, when in reality I think most of their job is performed in a lab Also, the ending was so contrived and wrapped up so neatly that I found it to be very simplistic Don t get me wrong, it was an easy and enjoyable read, but a [...]

    2. What It started out well creepy ish cover art, intriguing description This is apparently the second book in a series, but I had never heard of or read the first, and to this book s credit, I don t think it s necessary to have read the first I was expecting a fun, but thrilling, read and the forensic details of the crime scenes IS impressive However, the narrative soon devolves into the sort of tale in which the villian s ultimately end up explaining their entire plan to the good guys right befor [...]

    3. This book was rather disappointing to me It didn t start off that way but as I kept reading, it was just so repetitive and the twists turns that I was expecting never happened I especially didn t like the fact that the main character was doing police detective work and that is not her job Her cousin in the police officer yet she was doing all of the investigating, not really doing it well, and not following proper procedure It just wasn t realistic and definitely NOTHING like the first book, Tak [...]

    4. The book starts of interesting describing the characters that appear throughout the book, getting past the middle of the book, the plot becomes tedious, dealing with the forensic investigator Theresa Maclean her past life, her present life with her daughter, in any case once past the middle I started skipping pages, as the plot seemed to unfold far too slowly for me, the forensic details became complicated time spent in the lab, seemed extremely unrealistic, in any case unfortunately according t [...]

    5. I can t believe I read the whole thing.Had the murder solved by about page 5 The rest was rather tedious, especially the laborious explanations of the working of a crime lab, as if anyone in a real crime lab would have been allowed to behave in such a manner The characters weren t really likable I kept waiting for the story to get better This book is okay if you are bored on a plane it is a light read Otherwise, find something else.

    6. I read the 6th book in this series first and really enjoyed it I thought it was fresh and sharp and very entertaining The first two books, however, have been much less so The stories are much too long and slow paced for the plot, they just drag on for pages with nothing happening I know they get better by book 6, if I didn t, I would probably give up on this series now.

    7. Another great book by Lisa Black Being a Clevelander my whole life, I cannot be happy than when an author uses our home town Yes, it is about murders and investigations, but she uses Cleveland well Hope this series continues for a very long time

    8. Liked it and want to read in the series It is a lot like Bones and you have to take some of it with a suspension of belief and she is a scientist and not a police person Still pretty fun to read with lots of fun quirky characters.

    9. I really wasn t sure what a forensic investigator didI was thinking she would be along the lines of a forensic CSI type.but I think I already another in this series This book tended to drag while Theresa priced and begged her cousin to get a search warrantTheresa is portrayed sort of as a bumb in, foolish investigator I d like to see her character become stronger, smarter in her field so police and cousin help .

    10. This book has an interesting point of view for the thriller Black has her professional background in forensic sciences Theresa, the protagonist, is also working with the forensics, and for this whole mystery rather than being thrilling or to have enough suspense she seems to be the only one who does any detective work, and that turns out to be one of the weaknesses even though it still is interesting way to access the investigation.Theresa s boyfriend died 8 months ago, and since then she s been [...]

    11. Theresa MacLean, forensic scientist, is called to the scene of a crime The dead body of Jillian Perry is found in the woods propped against a tree The police think she wandered into the woods and froze to death They re thinking suicide but things just don t add up where Theresa is concerned For one thing, there is a decided lack of evidence Like frostbite, for instance For another, Jillian had a baby girl whom she loved with all her heart and, according to people she knew, would never have left [...]

    12. Not a horrible book, but I bought this book and the next in the series because I enjoyed Black s first of the series, Takeover , and this one seemed like a letdown While it has been a while since I read the first book, I remember it as being very action packed such that I couldn t put it down, and this one just seemed to be lacking in that drama.Still reeling from the events of Takeover , forensic investigator Theresa MacLean immerses herself in a case where a young bride is found frozen to deat [...]

    13. I could not get into the first book Takeover for some reason I thought that the writing seemed to be a bit trite and clich d The plot also seemed to be a bit clich d It took me a while I had to start and finish one other book before coming back to Takeover to complete the read Turned out the book was not a bad as I suspected in the beginning but it did not really, fully redeem itself in my eyes So, I thought I read next book in the series to see if the first book was just an aberration, fluke or [...]

    14. Evidence of Murder is the second book in the Theresa MacLean forensic investigator series The book picks up 8 months after the death of her fianc , Paul, from a bank robbery hostage situation gone wrong Still reeling from the loss, Theresa is struggling to make her way back to a place of normalcy in her life. When her cousin Frank, a Cleveland police officer, asks her to assist him in gathering some information on a missing former escort, she reluctantly agrees While at first it seems as though J [...]

    15. Another homerun production by author Lisa Black starring forensic scientist Theresa MacLean who does police field work than anyone else on the case I truly believe that Theresa McLean is in the wrong line of work Working three cases that seem to be related, Theresa gets caught up in the case of Jillian Perry who was found dead in the woods Jillian was a newlywed who has a young daughter and perhaps being mother herself or perhaps the mystery of the case causes Theresa to get out of the slump sh [...]

    16. In this second book in the series, we find our heroine Theresa dealing with the loss of her fiance It s been 8 months and she won t say she s depressed, just grieving In doing so she been like a zombie just going thru the motions Then a string of killings grabs her attention A prostitute, a young boy, and an escort turned mother The escort turned mother really sticks in her crawl when no one can figure out how she died Did she commit suicide Did she really walk three miles in below freezing weat [...]

    17. I LOVED the first book in this series especially since it is set in my hometown and had a solid mystery and great suspense This follow up didn t do the first book justice Theresa works in the coroner office and is assigned a case where she can t figure out, if the death is accidental or murder This is where the book goes weak, Theresa becomes obsessed with this case and does things that a person working in the coroner office would never do The strengths of this book is it is very realistic, Ther [...]

    18. I really enjoyed this book and read it quite quickly as a result However I only gave it a 3 star rating because it had some serious faults. The reason I enjoyed it so much is that the author, Lisa Black, really knows her stuff Her background experience with pathology really shows in the details she uses In this regard she s better than Kathy Reichs and simply in a different class than Patricia Cornwell view spoiler Unfortunately in this book Lisa Black makes the murder of Jillian Perry too hard f [...]

    19. Being a Cleveland born and bred woman, I tend to stil bristle a bit when my hometown is mocked I know, I know, the Cuyahoga River burned over 35 years ago, but still The legend of Cleveland as a City of Misfortune I have the teeshirt, literally continues.Which brings us to Lisa Black Her books take place in Cleveland My Cleveland The Cleveland I remember and still love Post industrial, bleak, heavily Slavic, possessed of a tougher than you d think spirit The Cleveland of former manufacturing pla [...]

    20. Theresa MacLean is a forensic investigator and is called in by her cousin, Frank, a detective with the local police to visit the husband of a woman who is reported missing Theresa is not really interested, the woman was employed as an escort and not really worthy in Theresa s mind Jillian is the mother of an infant and when Theresa learns , she realizes none of Jillian s friends suspected she would ever abandon her baby Evan, Jillian s husband doesn t really seem too upset with his wife s disapp [...]

    21. A pretty good read It started slow, then got going about 2 3 of the way through People should still take the time, though. One big gripe for me science has to be correct if it s in a book There is no reason why Christine should have thought that there was 25% oxygen in the air Oxygen is typically just under 21% Another error is that if someone is dying from N2 exposure, they wouldn t gasp and fight they d just go to sleep forever That s why N2 exposure is so dangerous you don t know until you ba [...]

    22. Evidence of Murder by Lisa Black is the second novel in a series featuring Forensic Scientist, Theresa MacClean, living and working in Cleveland Theresa and her group of colleagues from the previous novel TakeOver are again present in this novel of murder for profit I find Theresa s actual job expectations confusing She tends to investigate with no police back up, endangering herself and those she is trying to help Her actual role in each novel is confusing to say the least This being the second [...]

    23. I listened to the audiobook I had a very hard time getting into this book I believe because I was not enad with the narrator However, I did end up liking the book The author knows her science or at least researched it and wrote it up accurately and the ending was surprising to me This is 2 in a series I did not read listen to the first book, and I don t think this was a problem It has been over four years since I listened to this book I am transferring my few thoughts from my home computer to an [...]

    24. A lot of times a sopho effort falls down on the job, not in this case I found Lisa Black s second book much compelling, better constructed and believable than her first book In fact, if I hadn t I d be quitting this series, instead I ll go on I m sure that s an enormous relief to the author We revisit main character Theresa s life since the end of the last book Kudos to Black for not giving into the instant recovery of a character Tragedy has lasting effects as we see and it eventually seeps i [...]

    25. Forensic investigator Theresa MacLean is still mourning her fiance who was killed 8 months ago in a bank robbery She plods on with her job but lacks any special spark of interest When Jillian Perry is missing later found dead she can t help but see the similarities between their lives Jill s new husband seems a little off to Theresa, and she widens her usual job to include investigation She s sure the husband is a bad actor, but needs to collect proof to satisfy herself To further complicate thi [...]

    26. Another well done who done it by Lisa Black Its the story of a woman who meets her man while she is pregnanat with another man s child He doesn t care he says, after the baby is born he marries her 3 weeks later she is missing, 5 days later she turns up dead in a wooded area 3 miles from her home At first it looks like a suicide, but Theresa MacLean, a forensic investigator just doesn t believe it Jillian Perry s body show absolutely no signs of how she died Many want to put it down as freezing [...]

    27. Fantastic From the personal issues to the crime scene outstanding, witty dialogs and thought processes Lisa has a way with words, the science evidence and personal lives that makes everyone seem real What I can only image that might happen when the death looks like murder and yet there is no evidence to prove without a shadow of doubt Frustrating predicament for everyone involved to solve a murder Lisa capture all the emotions from all angles and made you think real hard death, life, grief,

    28. I was not super impressed with the first of the series, but since I have borrowed the entire series from the library ebooks for my vacation, I thought I would give the second one a go However, this book was even a less enjoyable read Similar to the first of the series, Takeover , the plot moved very slowly initially and in the last 1 5 of the book, all the new information was spewed out and everything resolved as if there was a word limit and the author realized she had to finish up.I don t plan [...]
