    1. I found this book on an Discussion as a great bodice ripper it wasn t and I have had it in my TBR for years I am into to the old fashion BR s every once in awhile and after reading The Golden Dynasty from Kristen Ashley loved it I was in the mood for an oldie. This was barely ok I never felt the love or even the lust The story did strike me funny at times because it was the first womens libber BR I have read These Viking women were total bra burners, they didn t like how the men were treating the [...]

    2. 4 and 1 2 Stars Well Told Viking Tale from 10th Century IrelandThis is a part of Coulter s Viking series and follows SEASON OF THE SUN though it is not related to it Really, it seems this is the first in the Viking lord trilogy see list below Set in Ireland and an island off the coast of England in 910, this is the story of Mirana, a Viking woman who is abducted one night by her brother s enemy, Rorik, Lord of Hawkfell Rorik seeks vengeance for the death of his wife and children at the hand of M [...]

    3. This one was ok I liked Mirana, the protagonist, although I thought Rorik could have used flushing out The story went that Rorik s wife and children were murdered by Mirana s half brother, Einar Rorik tries to murder Einar but fails and is captured When he manages to escape, he takes Mirana with him, as a hostage She mouths off to him constantly and he retaliates with some bad treatment, but of course he likes her spirit and she likes his strength and eventually they fall in love, although that [...]

    5. Well, I found this book left in the hostel room that I was to occupy I was excited that I had found a book, no matter what it was Even though the cover and title told me it wasn t a sort of book I would normally read So the book occupied my shelf for 2 full years before I ran out of paperback books and decided to give it a chance I read the first few pages and thought to give it away, it just wasn t my kind of book But something made me read on and I am so glad I did.Either the book turned out t [...]

    6. It was okay for Catherine Coulter Some parts were better than others I liked the women at Hawkfell It would have been nice to see them develope That seemed to get dropped Roriks character lacked depth, even though you understood what motivated him It might have helped to give his POV so that it added to the story I liked Mirana, she was strong and intelligent I thought the switch with the old king, interesting I wondered if that was a real legend of the time.

    7. This book was rather interesting, i got it for free from the library and it was the best free thing i ever got I loved this book, its definitely one of my favorite series Its really steamy and unexpected things happen left and right, its a suspenseful book.

    8. What a great story I laughed and cried many times Such wonderful writing and really engaging characters I love this authors work I am currently on a Regency kick and this one was terrific

    9. I like her books because they seem to offer in the way of real characterization than just trying to get the two people in bed together.

    10. I really like the Viking series a lot I love the war between the two main characters The pages just seemed to come alive and left you wanting Really good story

    11. I bought a bag of romance books from the library and this was one of them It was the third Coulter book in the bag and I think her stories are just not for me It is an older romance novel and I understand standards have changed, however no matter what the time period the book is about, in this case Viking Ireland, I just can t abide by rape ever in the main characters These people are supposed to love each other I never feel it and that problem isn t resolved by Rorik forcing himself on Mirana M [...]

    12. Rorik, a Viking Warrior, seeks revenge against Einar, who brutally killed most of his people So when he comes to kill him, he decides to take Einar s sister Mirana So he takes her to his home, Hawkfell Island Mirana, after tending to Rorik s injury, finds herself kidnapped by the very devil himself Now she has been taken to his home on a island Mirana, a viking woman herself, has lived under her half brother s reign, whom she knows deep inside how crazy he can get, and as she starts to spend time [...]

    13. For a time back in the 80 s 90 s, my reading material of choice was frequently bodice rippers, historical fiction, and regency romances with a few contemporary best sellers thrown in for good measure Most of them were pretty steamy blush or overly romantic, but I read them during a time in my life when I found myself as a single parent, and these books fit the bill I found them to be highly entertaining I recently donated a slew of them, but I wanted to catalog them all the same So if there is n [...]

    14. In 915, Viking Rorik Haraldsson in retaliation for the death of his wife and children attacks the castle of Einar in clontarf Ireland Since he is not there, Rorik kidnaps Einar s half sister, Mirana, instead Mirana was Orphaned at 12, and raised by Einar to be self reliant, fight like a man and keep house The women in Roriks farmstead befriend Mirana and secretly feed her well, while the men are eating slop to make them pay for bedding a slave Ennti, ignorant to the fact that their women can coo [...]

    15. I love love love Catherine Coulter s writing She makes me laugh until I hurt and her heroines are always brave, lovable, loyal women born way before their time and just trying to survive in a world ruled by men who believe women are not nearly as smart or capable as they are and these women prove them wrong Mirana loyal to her toes and as brave as any of the men and the heroine in this story taught Rorik the sometimes antihero, a few lessons the hard way and being a quick sturdy as he was no foo [...]

    16. A historical romance novel about vikings that made me happy and frustrated Idk I enjoyed it, and it was a super fast read Rorik is a babe though, and Miranna was so strong it made me so happy Her and Entti s friendship was one of my favorite aspects even though it wasn t explored as much as it should have been Also I realize I was pronouncing it Marianna in my head so that s how I spelt it but it s actually Miranna I thinkwhat if i m wrong haha dang Their names were weird and very vikingly so it [...]

    17. The sequel to Season of the Sun, Lord of Hawkfell Island is markedly different than its predecessor in that the heroine isn t raped While there is still a level of violence against women, the heroine is off limits this time around Another difference is the humorous scenes such as the tug of war between the men and women on the island Rorik is a heavy handed hero but he isn t without compassion for Miranda which saves him from being an utter bore Lord of Hawkfell Island in an enjoyable read Ceris [...]

    18. Mirana may look small and delicate but she is a Viking women with long black hair and green eyes, and she knows how to fight and qs an expert she is not afraid to use her knife Lord Rorik is a fierce Viking warrior and when Miranda let s her guard down Rorik kidnaps her with the plan of using her to get to her half brother when he rakes her home to Hawkfell Island things began to flyout of his control food is poisoned, a lady is jealous attacks Mirana planning to kill he Mirana is determined to [...]

    19. Three quarters of the men in this book will make you want to bash your head into a wall As a warning, there is one scene where Rorik rapes Mirana, it occurs after they ve already had relations, which were awful to begin with The other women, with an exception that all will note, were awesome, and I loved the interplay between them and Mirana I really liked Mirana, she is a very strong lead, although how quickly she forgives Rorik for his horrid treatment of her, I just really did not like that S [...]

    20. Over the years, Ms Coulter has been recommended to me as an author I might like Several years ago I read a few books in her medieval series, and now have discovered her Viking series Really well written HF story set in a pre medieval era Before Ireland and England had stable rulers and when Vikings still held sway But our heroine is certainly put thru the proverbial ringer Will definitely revisit Ms Coulter and her Viking era again.

    21. So he beats her up, chains her, abuses her, and then when he proposes she says yes I was a little thrown there She should have at least said no at FIRST I felt like she overlooked everything way too quickly Anyways, it s still a pretty good book I think that the whole idea of Mirana looking just like Hormuze s dead wife is a little corny, but it was alright Overall a good book, but not the best.

    22. It was good, but compare to the 1st book this one IMHO can t be compared Because Season in the Sun is soooo good i have such high expectation to the second one, turns out it didn t So from 4star down to 3.
